Home Advantage Pays Off as Denmark Storms to Victory at Stutteri Ask27-05-2025 - 08:35

Denmark were in imperious form in the opening Longines EEF Series Region North Qualifier on home soil at Stutteri Ask, leading the competition from start to finish to take victory ahead of Poland and Germany.

The time proved tight so fault free performances were few and far between around Gerard Lachat’s course. The hosts achieved a brace of them after their first two riders Zascha Nygaard Lill on the 12-year-old German Sports Horse Primavera and Caroline Rehoff Pedersen aboard the 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding Golden Eye recorded double clears and avoided time penalties.

“It was super nice today, amazing feeling. It was actually the first time I rode a clear round from the Danish team at a Senior Nation Cup and then I rode two. It was absolutely an amazing day for me,” said Caroline.

“I always dreamed about winning a Longines watch and I was not thinking this morning that, it will be this day so I am over the moon and I'm really proud about my team. It was amazing feeling to ride here at home two clear rounds.”

Denmark’s third team rider Soren Moeller Rohde and the 11-year-old Holsteiner mare Grace Ask amassed a score of five – four in the first round and then one time penalty in the second – to give the hosts an unassailable lead with their final rider still to jump.

“The performance went really well. The horses and the riders really performed today and it is always something special to win, but to win on your home ground it means a lot to everybody and to the whole show,” said Denmark chef d’equipe Bo K Moller.

“We are really happy so now we continue for the Europeans and hopefully we qualify for the final in the Longines EEF Series.”

With victory assured, Denmark’s final rider, Andreas Schou and Darc De Lux, a 14-year-old Holsteiner stallion, who were clear in the first round, decided not to jump in the second.

Poland occupied the runner-up position after impressive performances from Krzysztof Ludwiczak riding Vestari and Wojciech Wojcianiec aboard Aliean Zin’Galeriani, who picked up just one time penalty between them.

Jan Vinckier’s quartet finished on a score of five, seven penalties clear of Germany, who are only eligible for points in Region Central qualifying competitions.

Finland, whose team members Niclas Aromaa and Cascalinus and Anna-Julia Kontio with Eight Mile recorded two double clear jumping rounds but collected time penalties, occupied fourth place, USA were fifth and Sweden finished sixth.

Just three other combinations achieved double clear rounds: Taizo Sugitani and Quincy 194’s fault free performance helped Japan to seventh position, Robin Muhr and Galaxy HM produced two clears to facilitate Israel, who are contesting the Longines EEF Series for the first time this season, to eighth, while zero penalties for Santiago Nunez Riva and Chakira Z aided Spain to ninth.

Netherlands were 10th, Brazil finished 11th and Norway, who were the winners here 12 months ago, failed to complete as a team this year so wound up in last position.
